- Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of the history of the mail-order bride industry, gender stereotypes and domestic abuse on the foreign brides market. Topics discussed include attempts by the U.S. government to punish persons involved in the industry's exploitation of women, alternative approaches to increase protection of mail-order brides in the U.S. and the compliance of the marriage intermediates called as International Marriage Brokers with the U.S. immigration policies.
