- Title
A Big Fish Story: Using Media in the Introductory Theory Course.
- Authors
O'Brien, Suzanne Crawford
- Abstract
The article discusses the significance of media in the introductory theory course. The first half of the class comes together when we watch the film "Big Fish." In this film, a son returns home to a dying father. The father is a notorious storyteller, an embellisher to the extreme. In small groups, students are invited to consider how each of the theorists they had studied would read this film, to view the film through the lens of the theorist.
