- Abstract
Marital trials of ecclesiastical courts account for a highly interesting historical source for scholars aimed to investigate certain aspects of social history. This essay aims at focusing on such kind of archival source that is still poorly analysed in the Mediterranean area, compared to the studies carried out on European and North Italian diocesan archives. Thus, hereunder we highlight some cases of conjugal conflict taken before Palermo Archbishop's Curia in the first decade of the XV century, following the various typologies and preferring jurisprudence, without neglecting the historical institutional context of the Palermitan Archdiocese, which at that time lived the repercussions of Church laceration after the Western Schism.
