- Abstract
The article presents a study that examines the role of economists in laying out the structure for ending military conscription in the U.S. It cites the role of Walter Oi and others in presenting analytic case against the draft. The case was also presented by economists including Milton Friedman, James C. Miller III, and W. Allen Wallis to the public. The study cites the involvement of economists in writing staff reports for the U.S. President's Commission on the All-Volunteer Force.
