Patient nutrition suffers through lack of basic weighing equipment.
- Authors
Waters, Adele
- Abstract
The article reports on the effect of insufficient basic weighing equipment to patient nutrition in Great Britain. According to the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), lack of scales and height measures were the main reasons for screens not being done. It was also found that most patients were not weighed on admission and weight loss or reduced appetite were not assessed. A survey by Royal College of Nursing (RCN) showed that 20 percent of nurses do not have access to basic weighing equipment.
