- Abstract
An essay is presented which explores the social aspects of homosexuality in Cuba. It focuses on homosexuality within the religion of santería and discusses the books "El Monte" by Lydia Cabrera and "Des dieux et des signes" by Erwan Dianteill. Dianteill's theory of homosexual self-identification is explored and the rites and ceremonies of santería are examined. The effect of globalization on Cuban culture is also analyzed.
