- Abstract
Five cases of diaphragmatic hernia in dogs were diagnosed on radiographic and sonographic examinations. Liver, spleen and small intestine were commonly herniated. It appears that two radiographs from different angles in conjunction with thorough sonographic examination facilitated the diagnosis. Ventral midline celiotomy was adopted to repair diaphragm in three dogs and in other two dogs, additional left lateral paracostal approach was also adopted. Out of 5 dogs, one dog collapsed and four recovered uneventfully.
