- Abstract
The author argues that the central banking industry reduces the risk and incidence of financial crisis. He examines the actions of the U.S. Federal Reserve System (the Fed) during the financial crisis of 2007-2008, the establishment of the first Bank of the United States (BUS) and the influence of former U.S. secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton upon U.S. monetary policy, and the establishment of the U.S. Federal Reserve System in the early 20th century.
