- Abstract
This report is part of a larger investigation carried out in a Mexican State public university aiming to characterize academic culture in different professional fields. In this text, we present the results associated with the professional and academic trajectory in the field of law. Information was gathered through semi-structured interviews that dealt with various issues related to professional trajectories of the interviewed people. In the larger study we interviewed 24 people but here we report only six interviews to lawyers. Three of them were completely dedicated to their professional practice while the other three were full-time academics. Based on the analysis of the interviews, we inferred three trajectory stages for law professionals, five for those identified as professional-academics, and three for academic-professionals of law. In those stages, we identified processes related to family influence, socializing role of university studies and, finally, several mechanisms for career advancement.
