- Title
Optical tweezers study life under tension.
- Authors
Fazal, Furqan M.; Block, Steven M.
- Abstract
In this article, the authors discuss optical tweezers which reportedly become one of biophysicists' primary weapons. The author say that one advantage of tweezers against magnetic tweezers is that by moving the beam with the use of mirrors, acousto-optic deflectors, and electro-optic deflectors, they are capable of changing trap position at high kilohertz frequencies. They mention that tweezers' intense infrared light has a tendency to photobleach dyes that is often through two-photon effect.
