- Abstract
The article discusses policy issues related to food aid provided in sudden-impact disasters. It tackles several examples of common legal problems in providing food aid, including the regulation of food, indirect barriers to importing and distributing the right food. It looks at the existing international law concerning such legal problems. It explains the purpose of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in developing a set of guidelines for the facilitation of international disaster relief and initial recovery assistance.
