- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the patterns of political violence and instability in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), focusing on plans for for humanitarian improvements. The pernicious influence of armed groups originating outside the country, such as the Rwandan group Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and the Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces/National Liberation Army of Uganda (ADF/NALU), is noted. Efforts to implement the DRC government's Document of Strategies and of Growth for the Reduction of Poverty in DRC are described.
