- Abstract
The article presents a study on the trend of indigenous juvenile detention conducted by the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) which aims to provide an analysis of high detention rates among indigenous adolescents in Australia. It focuses on the over-representation of indigenous juvenile detention in the prison system. It also notes the administration of juvenile justice system among indigenous youth in custody wherein statistics show that detention has increased 21 times greater than non-indigent youth in the country. It suggests the need for the government to implement reforms in aboriginal laws.
