- Title
No. 50 Infringement Notices: Time for Reform?
- Authors
Fox, Richard
- Abstract
The article discusses the issues on the policies of infringement or offense in Australia. It cites that infringement notices and offenses made by citizens of Australia are usually treated with the issuance of expiation or on-the-spot fines from municipal law enforcers. Moreover, it adds that the expiation or fines vary among the different states in Australia which become a great source of revenue for each state. It notes that on-the-spot fines are administrative policies that require monetary payment and used as a means of keeping minor cases from reaching the courts. It suggests the need for an Infringements Acts legislation to define the designation of offenses and the procedural arrangements for issuing fines.
