- Title
People as solutions to sustainability.
- Authors
O'Brien, Karen; Hochachka, Gail
- Abstract
The article responds to a commentary on the concept of universal values and their role in sustainability. While the commentary suggests that social priorities may hinder sustainability, the authors argue that humans can also be the solution to sustainability challenges. They discuss how our social brains can contribute to solving sustainability challenges and emphasize the importance of universal values in connecting us to principles such as environmental integrity and social justice. The authors also highlight the potential for universal values to replicate across contexts and scales, fostering connections that transcend polarization and fragmentation.
