- Abstract
The article presents a critique of the poem "Peter Quince at the Clavier" by Wallace Stevens. Taking a formalist approach, the author examines images of eroticism manifested in the poem and their role as a possible commentary on beauty by Stevens. Interpretations from critics Fred H. Stocking and Joseph Riddel are also discussed Other topics include information on the Apollonian and Dionysian artworks and their relation to the poem, Stevens' poetic voice, and aesthetic theory.
