- Abstract
The article presents a study to test the requirement of respiration for inducing photosynthesis in cyanobacteria. It mentions the preparation of a mutant deficient in glycogen phosphorylase (GlgP) of strain Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 to suppress respiration. It adds that the study indicates respiration provides carbon source for regeneration of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate to start photosynthesis.
