- Title
EPILOGUES, PRAYERS AFTER PLAYS, AND SHAKESPEARE'S 2 HENRY IV.
- Authors
STERN, TIFFANY
- Abstract
The article discusses two possible different epilogues to the play "Henry IV," by William Shakespeare and the differences that were sometimes written into plays depending on whether they were performed in public or at court. One of the differences would be the inclusion of a prayer for the Queen. The research of scholars James Shapiro and Michael Hattaway on this issue is explored. The content of the prayers and the frequency with which they would be spoken at the end of plays are considered.
