- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of development of operational definitions for data collection and performance metric creation in organizations. Examples include attrition rate, cost per defect by part, quality metrics, and on-time delivery metrics. It is suggested that clear and standardized operational definitions can improve customer communication, aid in decision making, and save time and costs.
