- Abstract
The article discusses global nuclear enterprises, focusing on the danger to human life posed by nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants and providing suggestions for nuclear risk management and nuclear threat reduction. Topics include the safety and security of nuclear enterprises in the U.S. and around the world, the dropping of nuclear bombs on Hiroshima, Japan and Nagasaki, Japan during World War II, and the nuclear reactor meltdown that occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine in 1986. The U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission are mentioned. Independent peer review of nuclear enterprises is recommended by the authors.
