The article analyzes the poem "A Satyr Against Reason and Mankind" by John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester. The author examines similarities and possible influences from the book ''Leviathan" by philosopher Thomas Hobbes. Other topics covered include Wilmot's thoughts on fear, as well as his approaches to setting and theme in writing verse satire.
