The article discusses the narrative poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and presents an analysis based in Freudian dream theory. The conflict between the poem's narrative and structural coherence and dreamlike nature is examined, and an overview of the Freudian approach to meaning in dreams is offered.
