- Abstract
Aging is a natural process that occurs since we are born, but it becomes more evident after old age. With the increase in the rate of life expectancy, the search for cosmetics to delay the signs of aging grows. Buriti oil (Mauritia flexuosa) is a fruit native to Brazil, rich in beta-carotene and fatty acids, which help to regenerate and nourish the skin. The main objective of this research was to develop and evaluate the microbiological control of the cosmetic serum formulation based on buriti oil (Maurita flexuosa), for elderly skin. A descriptive study of an experimental and biotechnological nature was carried out, where the serum containing buriti oil (Maurita flexuosa) was manipulated, after which microbiological tests were carried out. Serial dilutions were used, 100, 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 in test tubes and 10 microliters were impregnated in sterile discs with serum, and later inoculated in plates enriched in specific media for fungi and bacteria. microbiological analysis with a serum sample showed no growth of pathogenic microorganisms, demonstrating the stability of the formulation. Conclusion: It was observed that the serum has physicochemical and microbiological properties compatible with geriatric skin, being stable, with antibacterial and antifungal action adequate to the standards of safety and sustainable and cosmetically effective.
