- Abstract
Entre la diversidad de tonos, lenguas y generaciones de la poesía maya contemporánea, una imagen se repite, se superpone y se transforma: la cruz/árbol de los rumbos del mundo. Este diseño no es un ejercicio literario o un motivo artístico, sino un paradigma ancestral tejido entre el arte, la ciencia y la espiritualidad. A través de la imagen poética, escritores como Humberto Ak’abal (k’iche’), Gaspar Pedro González (q’anjob’al), y Donny Limber Brito May (yucateco) han recreado múltiples posibilidades de la cruz/árbol. Este artículo dialoga con ensayos y poemas de González, Ak’abal y Brito May, así como con dos términos mayas: kotzi’b’ (González) y ri che’ kajq’ab’ (Ak’abal). Si bien abundan estudios arqueológicos y antropológicos sobre la cruz/árbol en inscripciones glíficas del periodo clásico Maya en ciudades como Palenque y Copán, el objetivo principal de este artículo es subrayar la resiliencia y actualidad de este paradigma en tres escritores mayas contemporáneos. Al persistir en varios tiempos de la historia mesoamericana, y al tejer cuerpo-territorio-cosmos en diseños multidimensionales, aquí muestro cómo la cruz/árbol de los rumbos del mundo se erige como “cosmoléctica” (Chacón 2018).
