- Abstract
The ladder plait motif and the circular punctates are emblematic attributes of the St. Lawrence Iroquoians, but they suffer from the lack of a clear definition. Based on a comparative study of ceramic vessels from Mailhot-Curran (BgFn-2) and Glenbrook (BgFp-5) sites, this article proposes a definition of those attributes and explains their inclusion in global decorative projects. The author also presents the results of an experiment aimed at a better understanding of the composition of the toolkit used by Iroquoian potters.
