- Abstract
A series of metabolic stress and changes in external environment such as pregnancy, delivery, lactation and high concentrate feeding, can easily induce oxidative stress in the body of periparturient cows, and then lead to the decline of antioxidant function and immune dysfunction, which can induce metabolic diseases and inflammatory diseases in cows. Therefore, relieving oxidative stress is an effective way to achieve high productivity of dairy cows. As a kind of green and pollution-free natural antioxidant, tea polyphenols can be reasonably added to the diet of dairy cows to improve the antioxidant activity of dairy cows, and effectively alleviate the inflammatory reaction and immune dysfunction caused by oxidative stress. The review focuses on the pathogenesis of metabolic and inflammatory diseases caused by oxidative stress in perinatal dairy cows and the regulatory effect of tea polyphenols, aiming to provide ideas for the subsequent application of tea polyphenols in dairy production.
