- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Black Thunder: Gabriel's Revolt: Virginia 1800," by Arna Bontemps is presented. It explores the representation of slavery, slave revolt, and the collectivized freedom in the enslaved communities, the analysis on the links between the pendulum time and the forms of collective African American freedom, and the representation of prophetic futures of collective freedom.
