- Abstract
The article offers information on a dental study on transmission of diseases in dogs by toothbrushes. In a systematic study in 1986 it was found that microorganisms thrived on the toothbrushes of healthy dental patients and patients with inflammatory diseases. However, the current study is an attempt to answer some unanswered questions from the previous studies. Dogs were chosen as the subject of the study and it was found that even sterile toothbrushes produced gingival or mucosal ulceration. The incidence of ulcerations increased with daily brushing and their healing depended on the brushing process.
