- Abstract
This experiment has investigated the effects of fertilizers from pig lungs, spleen, and pancreas through processing procedures such as cooking, drying, and crushing on the growth of water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica). The four-leaf water spinach was planted in a pot for 2 weeks. These were divided into four groups: chemical fertilizer (control group), pig lung, pig spleen, and pig pancreas at a nitrogen requirement of 150 kg/ha. It was harvested 3 weeks after fertilization, and the yield and the chemical composition of the plant were analyzed. The results showed that the nitrogen contents of the pig lung, spleen, and pancreas were 8.31, 9.91, and 7.62%, respectively. The copper contents of the pig lung, spleen, and pancreas were 9.38, 7.50, and 6.39 ppm, and the zinc contents of these groups were 128.1, 175.0, and 223.6 ppm, respectively. The fresh weight yield of water spinach was higher in the chemical fertilizer group than in the pancreas group by 24.4%, lung group (27.1%), and spleen group (31.7%). In terms of plant composition, the crude protein content of the pancreas group was 24.7% higher than that of the chemical fertilizer group. There were no significant differences in phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium among the treatments. The content of copper and zinc was higher in the chemical fertilizer group. It is strongly recommended that the waste after processing pig offal should be supplemented with phosphorus and potassium according to the needs of the crop, mixed and fermented to make the fertilizer.
