- Abstract
Objective: Analyze the phases of the beef cattle production process used by the producers affiliated to the General Local Livestock Association of the municipality of Tepetlaoxtoc, General Peasant and Peasant Workers Union, State of Mexico, to identify the activities that must be improved and taken care of. Design/methodology/approach: A census survey was designed and applied to all the finalizing producers of bovine cattle, with the purpose of knowing and analyzing the phases of the production process of beef cattle that they use. Results: As a result, the characterization of the phases of the beef cattle production process carried out by the producers affiliated to the association was obtained. Study limitations/implications: An important limitation in the realization of the present investigation was that, the producers affiliated to the association, do not meet with frequency and are dispersed within the municipality which made difficult the approach with the members of the association. Findings/conclusions: The process of livestock production is very important because it can be carried out strategically to place in the pen of the pen and the animals as soon as possible, the faster the animals will be adapted to confinement and their new diet, the older ones will be Daily weight gains. Concluding that the preliminary phase of the production process is the most neglected by the producers, it is recommended to prioritize the activity of cattle sorting by size and weight, due to the advantages offered by the implementation of this activity. The adaptation phase is the most critical and important from the economic point of view, the shorter the sea, the faster the cattle can move to the developmentcompletion phase.
