- Abstract
The document describes the use of PC-based test systems for simultaneous testing of electronic systems on multiple channels. Spectrum Instrumentation offers a range of PCIe cards that can be used to assemble multi-channel test systems. The document also provides practical examples of using these test systems, such as measuring voltages and currents in a three-phase DC motor and capturing signals from a Hall effect sensor. It is also noted that modular digitizers and arbitrary generators can be used for stimulus-response testing of electronic devices. The combination of the two instruments, the Spectrum digitizer M2p.5968-x4 and the arbitrary generator M2p.6568-x4, allows for a variety of testing requirements to be met. An example of this is measuring phase margin in closed-loop control systems. Phase margin is the phase difference between the input and output of the open-loop control loop. Another application is simulating signals with an arbitrary generator, which can generate a wide variety of signal waveforms. Additionally, real-time control of waveform segments allows for adaptive response to different testing requirements.
