- Abstract
A school’s principal shepherds the school’s path, influencing its direction. Positive leadership can help the organization overcome its dilemma and encourage the members inside to fulfill themselves, even transcend. Recent positive leadership researchers tend to use quantitative research methods, focusing on elementary and junior high schools; few researchers adopt principal awareness as their research method. Hence, the purpose of this research is to discover how a vocational high school principal performs positive leadership. This research is a qualitative case study, in-depth interview and documents analysis, the research subject is the principal of Taipei Municipal An-An Vocational High School. The researcher discovered that principal’s positive leadership practice contains: 1. To be grateful, cherish blessings, put yourself in others’ shoes to garner consensus; to set a good example, carry heavy duties. 2. To accept and truly respect others, support and approve to build high quality partnership. 3. To communicate with mutual trust by using positive language, discover merits and interpret them positively. 4. To pass down positive belief, seize the occasion to advocate vision in order to build consensus and earn support.
