- Abstract
The article reports on research which was conducted to investigate the relationship between dog guardianship and the outcomes of HIV patients. Researchers evaluated 370 HIV positive male patients on an antiretroviral regimen. They found that while dog guardianship was associated with a higher CD4 level and medication adherence and was not associated with having a detectable viral load, additional research on the subject was needed.
