- Title
COMPARATIVE EXPERIMENT ON DECOMPOSITION RATES OF FOREST LITTER IN SOUTHERN AND NORTHERN FINLAND.
- Authors

- Abstract
A field experiment of 3 years' duration showed that a distinct difference exists in the rate of litter decomposition between southern and northern Finland. The loss of organic matter from litters in southern Finland (Vilppula and Ruotsinkylä) was, on the average, 40% higher than in similar conditions in Lapland (Pallasjärvi). The rate of litter decomposition increased proportionally to the mean summer temperature.
