- Abstract
The article discusses the 19th century Italian philosopher Carlo Cattaneo' theory on the role that intelligence, public institutions and place play in economics, often referencing literature written by Cattaneo. An overview of Cattaneo's perspective on economic development, including the role that capital plays in this regard, is provided. An overview of the role that the economic conditions of Lombardy, Italy played in Cattaeo's economic theories is also provided.
