- Abstract
The article discusses a liaison librarian program created by the Health Science Center Libraries (HSCL) of the University of Florida to provide customized library services in different disciplines and fields. Librarians were assigned to colleges at the university's Health Science Center (HSC), including its nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and veterinary medicine colleges, in addition to its medical college. Following the loss of library personnel, the liaison service was restructured and a document produced that outlined liaison librarian duties, such as providing information about library services, offering mediated searches and reference services, and representing the library in academic committees. They note how the document may assist the program if it is faced with budget cuts.
