- Title
Bone density and size in ambulatory children with cerebral palsy.
- Authors
HENDERSON, RICHARD
- Abstract
The author comments on a study which examined the relation of axial and appendicular bone properties in ambulatory children with cerebral palsy (CP) to functional Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) level. He believes that the study has not only showed that quantitative computed tomography (QCT) measures in the tibia are a promising means of assessing parameters that are likely to reflect fracture risk in children, but has also shown that volumetric bone density measures in the lumbar spine has no association to skeletal fragility.
