- Abstract
Bordetella pertussis causes pertussis disease which is the highly contagious infection. All age groups may be affected. Incomplete vaccination of infants and children may cause more severe disease and mortality. Recent studies in our country and in many countries of the world indicate that the incidence of pertussis is increasing in adolescents and adults. In adolescents and adults is an important source of the disease. The disease has endemic per 3-5 years. In this study we report a case of pertussis vaccines in full. 11-year-old child was admitted to the emergency department because of, subconjunctival hemorrhage and episodes of cough. Patient identified acute respiratory failure, subconjunctival signs of bleeding was diagnosed pertussis. Patient was admitted for treatment to the emergency department. Patient responded well to treatment and was discharged thereafter. In this study we aimed to discuss implementation of the booster doses of the pertussis vaccine for school children, adolescents and adults
