- Title
Irreproducible Results and the Breeding of Pigs.
- Authors
Cohen, Joel E.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the Polya's urn scheme experiment which was introduced to model the spread of infection in a population in 1923. Researchers David Blackwell and David Kendall studied another generalization of the experiment and even mentioned its implications for stochastic population growth. But an overgrowth of related mathematical results obscured their message for biologists. Further in the article information on how the experiment can be used for breeding stock on a pig farm is presented.
