- Abstract
The study aimed to identify the most and the least stressful factors for patients hospitalized in a Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A descriptive study carried out with 45 patients hospitalized in a Cardiology ICU. A 4-point Likert scale was used to evaluate 42 possible stressors. The most stressful factors are: not to have control on oneself, uncomfortable bed and/or pillows, and the least stressful: being frequently examined by doctors and nurses, watching the medical and nursing care being carried out in other patients. We conclude that the main stressors are related to intrapersonal and environmental factors, and so are the least stressful ones.
