- Abstract
As Joyce's autobiographical work, "Portrait of a Young Artist" portrays the mental process of the protagonist Stephen growing up as a young artist. Using the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung to analyze the core theory of psychology, the theory of self-nature, and conduct text analysis, it is found that the psychological growth process of the protagonist Stephen is consistent with the process of self-nature; through the self-awareness of Stephen, The specific analysis of psychological archetypes such as collective unconsciousness and personal unconsciousness found that Stephen eliminated the conflicts between the archetypes in the personality and merged them into a harmonious whole through the coordination effect of the self-prototype, thus obtaining the success of self-development.
