The article presents a field experiment of growth, clonal morphology and colonization of Spartina (S.) alterniflora. The study showed that the total stem length and height of S. alterniflora varied with genotype, while flowering stem density and stem density did not. It revealed that clones that were bigger in diameter tended to have greater total stem lengths and stem heights.
