- Abstract
The article examines poetry and power in "Tristia," the books of poems by Roman poet Ovid and the poem "Legend of Good Women," by English poet Geoffrey Chaucer. Topics covered include Chaucer's direct acquaintance with the "Tristia," as suggested by the plot and thematic parallels, the historical context of the "Legend of Good Women" and the comparison of the F-Prologue of the "Legend of Good Women" to the second book of the "Tristia."
