- Authors
RUST, JENNIFER R.
- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented for the book "Actes and Monuments of Matters Most Speciall and Memorable," which is also known as "The Book of Martyrs," by John Foxe. Particular focus is given to the book's representation of English Protestant martyrs during the Protestant Reformation, including in regard to what is referred to as the corpus mysticum, or mystical body. The book's portrayal of Protestant martyrs' ambiguous perspective on Christian mass, including the sacraments, is discussed.
