- Abstract
The dance is a form of language and uses the body as an instrument. The constant practice of dance generates changes and adaptations to the body, due to high demands of this activity. This article examines the foot in ballet: musculoskeletal demands, conditions and requirements. Foot structures have been analyzed in various technical positions such as the point, half point or turn out. A high proportion of dancers have feet alterations as hallux valgus and claw toes due to demands effort. Muscles as triceps surae, peroneus longus, tibialis posterior, flexor hallucis longus and flexor hallucis brevis, tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis, abductor hallucis and the interosseous muscles and planting, have been studied in basic techniques of the foot in classical dance.
