- Abstract
The article discusses the case-by-case medical management of acquired tracheoesophageal fistulas (TEFs), and it mentions how a gastric conduit procedure can be used for bypassing TEF after endoscopic dilatation for corrosive esophageal stricture. According to the article, common causes of acquired TEFs include endotracheal tube trauma, locally advanced esophageal carcinoma, and tuberculous mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Surgical anastomosis and the treatment of tracheal defects are assessed.
