- Abstract
The man's search for ways that favor a healthier life has encouraged the search for new compounds that meet these needs, and many substances in plants can exert biological effects on human health. The grape is a rich natural source of polyphenols and antioxidants. These phenolic compounds have a wide range of pharmacological properties including antiinflammatory antialergênica, antithrombotic, cardioprotective, vasodilator and antimicrobial activities. Resveratrol is one of the phenolic compounds most determined and studied in grapes and their derivatives, for its outstanding antioxidant activity and its effects on tumor suppression and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
