- Abstract
Background: In oral pathology, malignant neoplasms, particularly oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), are prevalent pathologies. There are not many studies published about the recurrence of OSCC in Colombia. Purpose: To describe the recurrence of OSCC reported in clinical records among adult patients Methods: A retrospective study in which clinical records of adult patients attending the Javeriana University Oncology Center in Bogota Colombia were analyzed. Patients were diagnosed with OSCC between 2000 and 2012. Frequency of variables such as gender, age, location, treatment, recurrence, time to recurrence, lymph node, metastasis, and smoking habits was described, in order to determine trends. Results: OSCC recurrence was more frequent among females, in tongue, and among smokers.
