- Abstract
Hybrid polymer composites are composed of fiber and filler reinforcements found to have superior specific characteristics, and it is better than monolithic polymers. The motto of the research is to enrich the properties of epoxy composite by incorporating a multi-fiber/filler combination synthesized via an advanced hot compression technique. The synthesized composites contained epoxy combinations of sisal fiber (SF), glass fiber (GF), sisal-glass fiber (SGF), and SGF with silicon carbide (SiC) are involved in X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, tensile/flexural strength, microhardness, and fracture toughness performance evaluation. The advanced hot compression technique has proved that better dispersion of fiber and filler in epoxy resin results in better mechanical properties. The significance of multi-fiber/filler combination (SGF-SiC) in epoxy facilitates maximum tensile, flexural, and microhardness performance and better fracture toughness behaviour of 388 ± 12 MPa, 291 ± 8 MPa, 138 ± 5 HV, and 4.7 ± 0.1 J/cm2. The enriched epoxy hybrid composite composed of SGF-SiC will be suggested for auto-aerospace cabinet applications.
