A literary criticism is presented of the novel "Remembering Babylon," by David Malouf, in which the author explores the novel's concern for home and homecoming among white settler exiles in the British colony of Australia. Topics include racial identity of the main character Gemmy who lived with Aboriginal tribes, Gemmy's articulateness, as well as themes of colonialism and language.
